Aotearoa Elective

Aotearoa Elective Term 4 2013

During this Elective we have looked at a range of events that have happened in New Zealand's History. Some of these were the Tangiwai Rail Disaster and Sir Edmund Hillary climbing Mount Everest. We looked at New Zealand's own mountain ranges. There are many native and endangered animals that are found in New Aotearoa and these have been a focus for us also. The Waitomo Glowworm Caves are well known worldwide and we learnt about how these were created and the life cycle of a Glowworm. It has been a great 9 weeks of learning and we are all very lucky to live in such a beautiful country.

New Zealand Pic Collages

Below are Pic Collages that were created using the iPads. We had to choose a topic that we have learnt about during this Elective and create a Pic Collage to share photos and facts.

New Zealand Flags

Using knowledge we have gained from this Elective we were to design our own version of the New Zealand Flag.

Kiwi Art Work

We followed step by step instructions to help us draw a Kiwi. We used pastels to make our Kiwi's look realistic and then did the habitat surrounding the Kiwi. They are on black paper as we learnt they are nocturnal and come out at night.

Thank you for looking at the different things we have made during this Elective. We hope you enjoyed them and would love for you to write a comment.
